Gladiolus Communis Byzantinus, Perennial. Needs a sunny position along with well-drained soil. This is a plant that will look stunning in front borders, with its striking magenta funnel shaped flowers, can also be grown in large pots. Naturally grows wild in the Mediterranean.
Plant: September -November. 10-15cm deep. Spacing 15 cm. Flowers May-June. Height 50-60 cm.
Hardy, Perennial. Prefers full sun, in moist but well-drained soil. Add a little sharp sand or grit to help with drainage.
Ideal for front borders and can also be grown in large pots. Water regularly during the growing season.
Propagate: When plant is dormant late July-August, store corms and replant in the autumn.
