Allium Nigrum. This allium is Ideal for the herbaceous border or front borders grown in clumps or drifts. The flowers are slightly bigger than a tennis ball, and are borne on stems 60-80 cm tall. This allium looks good with the allium Purple Sensation.

Hardy. Perennial. Needs well-drained, fertile soil. Full sun or half shade. Feed with a slow release fertilizer. Ideal for borders, if growing in containers, make sure the bulbs have plenty of root space and feed with a slow release liquid feed, Growmore is ideal.
Propagate: When bulbs are overcrowded, lift once the flower stem has dried out and comes away from the bulbs easily. Separate the bulbs and store in a cool dark place, replant in the autumn.
