Agapanthus Africanus. Frost-hardy. Evergreen, clump forming perennial. A warm spot with plenty of sun and well-drained sandy soil is what this plant needs. They only seem to flower when root bound., pots and containers will create this environment, you can even plunge the pots into the garden by removing the base of the pot. Naturally Agapanthus are found growing in the mountainous regions of the western cape, thriving amongst rocks and sandy soil. Africanus was the first species collected in South Africa, named in 1679 Hyacinthus Africanus Tuberosus, entered European gardens in the late seventeenth century and is now one of the most loved garden plants throughout the world. Provides beautiful glossy green foliage all year round and produces fantastic showy ball-like flowers during the months of July to September. Bare Roots Supplied.
